Pokémon Learning League is easy to use because is web-based; other than Flash 8 and an Internet browser, there is no additional software necessary.  The content can be accessed simply by logging on to the website with your respective username and password.

Searching for lessons can be done in several ways:

• Enter keywords into the “search” box on the homepage and click “GO.”
• Click on the “STATE STANDARDS” button on the homepage.  Then, select the state you live in, your child’s grade, and subject area.  You will see a list of topics that correlate to your stand standards.  Click on the topic’s name to view the topic.
• You may also browse through the topics in each subject area.  Click on a subject area and the available topics will refresh in the list below it.

Since the needs of different states, schools, and individual students may vary within a particular grade, we recommend that you preview a topic to determine its appropriateness to your child’s age and skill level.  Pokémon Learning League is designed as a supplement to school curriculum, so it is possible that gifted students may be above grade level or that students may need to review concepts at a lower grade level.  You can use Pokémon Learning League to introduce topics or provide a review to previously learned concepts.  Consider using Pokémon Learning League with your child as a “reward” for completing homework or as a way to work together on the skills your child is learning at school. 

In addition to math, science, and language arts subjects, Pokémon Learning League life skills lessons deal with the field of Social and Emotional Learning (SEL).  This field was created in response to the growing body of research which found that children’s overall social, emotional, and physical well being directly correlates to their academic achievement.  Essentially, children often have difficulty focusing on learning when they are overwhelmed with the problems they face in their everyday life.  Pokémon Learning League leads children through various lessons demonstrating positive attitudes and teaching skills such as cooperation, relationship building, goal setting, healthy eating, communication skills and conflict resolution; skills that sometimes are neglected in school.
